Heartmed Philosophy
The philosophy of Heartmed is to provide excellence.
Excellence in the quality of the medicine practised, Excellence in service delivery and Excellence in patient satisfaction.
There are two prerequisites for a doctor to practice medicine excellently;
Education
My cardiology education began with university and specialty cardiology training and continued with further subspecialty training in echocardiology. I have a commitment to ongoing education which revolves around cardiology conferences and other formal education lectures and workshops as well as an extensive reading program to keep up to date with the latest medical research which is generally important for all my patients.
The backbone of up-to-date medical knowledge is the wealth of literally thousands international reputable peer-reviewed scientific publications available which I access (for a price) through the Internet. I utilise the research skills I acquired in my formal research years (MPhil) to locate scientifically proven answers to the sometimes very specific questions that apply to my individual patients.
Ethics
The health and welfare of my patients is the highest priority of my practice. I do not allow my practice to be corrupted by negative influences such as money, power and wayward ideology.
I encourage patients to place an appropriate priority on their health, to educate themselves in matters relating to their own health issues, to have an appropriate perspective on their health and last but not least to enjoy the well-being that results from the above and excellent medical care. I place great value on preventive medicine as "an ounce of prevention is worth a tonne of cure".
